Transit Bus catches fire on Hartford bridge - Connecticut news - Boston.com
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — State police say a transit bus caught fire on the Founders Bridge over the Connecticut River between Hartford and East Hartford, but no one was injured.

The fire was reported at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday as hundreds of bicyclists were competing in races in nearby downtown Hartford. The Connecticut Transit bus stopped about halfway across the westbound side of the bridge.

Connecticut Transit officials say there were several passengers on the older-model bus at the time, but all were escorted off safely.

The bus was towed to the Connecticut Transit garage in Hartford, where an inspection is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of the fire.

The westbound side of the bridge was closed for a short time during the emergency response and cleanup, but is now open.
