Sexual incidents on buses

Detectives are appealing for information from the public to identify a man they wish to speak with following three incidents of a sexual nature that occurred on buses in the Poole and Bournemouth area – with a picture being released.

CCTV image of a man police wish to speak with following  three incidents of a sexual natureBetween 11am and 11.30am on Saturday, 13 March 2010, a woman with her five-year-old daughter was travelling on a Wilts & Dorset M1 single deck bus towards Poole when she confronted a man who was indecently touching himself. The man hurriedly left the bus near Poole Hospital in Longfleet Road.

Between 10.15am and 11.15am on Saturday, 27 March 2010, a 29-year-old Bournemouth woman was travelling from Boscombe to Poole on a C1 yellow bus when a man sitting behind her touched her left breast. He left the bus near the George roundabout in Poole.

Between 1.41pm and 2.30pm on Saturday, 27 March 2010, a 16-year-old Bournemouth girl was travelling from Poole towards Bournemouth on a C1 yellow bus when a man sitting behind her touched her around the waist. He moved seats after the teenager looked at him and left the bus at the Lansdowne in Bournemouth.

Detective Sergeant Ian Fletcher, of the Bournemouth & Poole public protection unit, said: “I am releasing a picture of a man that I need to speak with as I believe that he may have information that is vital to my investigation.

“I’d like to hear from anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV picture so that I can identify him and speak with him.

“I also believe that all three upsetting incidents were carried out by one man and I am appealing for help from the public to find him.”

The man police are looking for is aged in his late forties to early fifties, five feet nine or ten inches tall and of medium build with a tanned complexion. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded-style duffle jacket.

Detective Sergeant Fletcher continued: “It’s important that I hear from anyone who recognises the man from this description – and from anyone who has any other information that will help me to identify him.”
