Pickup Crash Knocks Power Lines Onto Bus
PORTLAND, Ore. -- A pickup truck slammed into a power pole Wednesday in southeast Portland, causing power lines to fall onto a TriMet bus, police said.The only person on the bus at the time was the TriMet driver, according to the transit agency. It did not appear that the driver suffered any injuries.Portland police spokeswoman Mary Wheat said the driver of the pickup suffered a medical condition that caused him to go off the road near Southeast 17th Avenue and Pardee Street.The pickup driver was not injured or cited for his involvement in the wreck.As of 1:30 P.M., PGE crews remained were still at the scene to repair the lines and pole. Traffic signals were out in the area.Southeast 17th Avenue will likely be closed between Holgate and McLoughlin boulevards for several hours as a result of the wreck.
