21 Egyptian riot policemen injured in bus accident
CAIRO – Twenty-one Egyptian riot policemen were injured Sunday when
their bus overturned on a southern highway, a security official said.
A
tire explosion caused the bus accident on Assiut-Khargah highway, the
official, who asked to remain anonymous, told Anadolu Agency.
He
went on to add the troops suffer from various injuries, without
elaborating whether any of the soldiers are in a critical condition.
Egypt
has the Middle East's highest road accident fatalities, according to
figures by the state-run Central Agency for Public Mobilization and
Statistics.
Around 7,115 people (19.5 people every day) were killed in road accidents in 2011, according to the agency.
