BARSTOW: Fort Irwin bus crash kills 1, hurts 8
A commuter bus and a 5-ton truck collided near the Army’s desert training center at Fort Irwin, killing a 62-year-old Barstow man and hurting eight other persons, Army officials say.
Dail Lee Keiper Sr. died at the scene of the 5:14 a.m. wreck Monday, June 2, along Fort Irwin Road, San Bernardino County coroner’s officials said in a written statement.
The crash happened on Army property but outside the fort’s main gate.
The injured — including two soldiers — were taken to Weed Army Community Hospital in Fort Irwin.
The Army is investigating the cause of the crash, no details of which have been released
