16 Die in bus crash in Peru | Fox News Latino

Sixteen people died and seven were injured Friday as the result of a bus accident in the southern region of Arequipa, Peruvian police said.
The bus veered off a mountain road at a spot known as Quebrada del Toro and plunged roughly 100 meters (328 ft.) to the bottom of a ravine.
Fourteen people were pronounced dead at the scene and two others died later at a hospital in the town of Camana, police said.
The bus was on its way to the coastal town of Chala from Arequipa city when the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel, according to the preliminary report.
All of the passengers who survived had their seatbelts fastened at the time of the crash, media accounts said.
Accidents are common in Peru's mountainous interior, due to the rugged terrain, the poor state of roads and vehicles and the recklessness of many drivers. EFE
