MTC buses kill three in separate accidents - The Times of India

CHENNAI:
Two pedestrians and a man on motorcycle were killed after being knocked
down by MTC buses in separate incidents across the city on Wednesday
afternoon.

Police said, Govindammal, 60 of Neelankarai was
trying to cross the road near Kottivakkam when she was knocked down by
an MTC bus. She was a domestic help on her way to work. Govindammal
suffered serious injuries and died on the way to the hospital, police
said. Police arrested Ramesh, the driver of the MTC bus.

In
another incident at Palavakkam, Gowriammal, 70, was crossing the road
when an MTC bus hit her, killing her on the spot. She was going to a
nearby market when the accident took place. Police later arrested MTC
driver Gopal Raj.

In the third accident, Anandapadmanaban, 32,
was crushed to death when an MTC bus hit his motorbike. He was near
Mandaveli bus depot. Police took driver Rajendran into custody. The
Adyar traffic investigation wing has registered cases of causing death
due to negligent driving in all three accidents.
