Arimbi drivers go on strike | The Jakarta Post
Hundreds of bus drivers and conductors employed by bus
company PT Arimbi Jaya Agung went on strike on Friday to protest the dismissal
of colleagues involved in accidents.
The protesters failed to turn up for work at the bus
company’s head office in Cikokol, but the management declined to negotiate to
end the strike.
Agus, a protester, said they went on strike to express
their solidarity with many drivers and drivers’ assistants who had been
dismissed and asked to pay for damage caused in accidents.
“Such punishment is not fair. We could face similar
sanctions if we and our buses have accidents,” he said, adding that nobody was
intentionally involved in an accident.
In the meantime, hundreds of passengers were stranded at
the bus company’s head office during the strike.
