BBC News - Man in Barnet knocked unconscious by bus

BBC News - Man in Barnet knocked unconscious by bus
The 55-year-old man was knocked unconscious in the crash on Cockfosters Road, Barnet, at 23:00 BST on Saturday,

Despite a number of people approaching the man as he lay injured at the side of the road, emergency services were not called for another two hours.

Police said the bus driver did not stop at the scene, apparently unaware of the collision. No arrests have been made.

Speaking about the delay in help arriving, a police spokesman said: "During that time, one man helped him [the victim] from the kerbside on to the pavement and a number of other people approached the man, but they may not have realised the severity of his injuries."

Police were called to a north London hospital at 10:00 BST on Sunday to interview the injured man, who has since been transferred to a central London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the crash outside Cockfosters tube station as well as anyone who assisted the injured man.
