2 In Custody After Crash Involving Lynx Bus

Deputies were on the scene of a car crash involving a Lynx bus Friday afternoon. Officers were trying to stop a car at Curry Ford Road and SR-436, but for some reason the driver kept going and hit the bus.

Witnesses told WFTV that a white Pontiac Grand Prix was tearing down Curry Ford Road, being chased by Orlando police and Orange County sheriff deputies. There was a bus in the right lane. Witnesses said the Pontiac swerved in and out of lanes, crashed into a couple of other cars and then hit the Lynx bus.

After the crash, two people took off on foot and tried to hide in a nearby McDonald's. Officers, however, were able to find them and took them into custody.

WFTV reporter Kenneth Moton talked to one of the suspects, who was a passenger in the Pontiac. He told Moton that he ran because he had an outstanding warrant out, but he didn’t know why the driver was trying to get away from the officers.

Traffic was backed up on Curry Ford Road due to the crash.

The identities of the suspects were not released.
