DENVER - Three people were badly hurt after an RTD bus collided with a car next to Denver's Auraria campus Monday evening.

The accident happened at Colfax Ave. and Osage St. at about 8:00 p.m.

Witnesses say the RTD bus was making a left turn from Colfax onto Osage when it hit the white sedan, which was traveling eastbound on Colfax. They say both vehicles had a yellow light.

Three people from the sedan were transported to Denver Health Medical Center. Two of them were reported in critical condition and the third was in serious condition. A witness said a male victim was bleeding from the head when emergency crews pulled him from the car.

The bus driver and sole passenger on the bus were not hurt. RTD said the driver is employed by First Transit, a private contractor.

Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson says investigators had not determined which driver was at fault an hour after the crash.

Eastbound lanes of Colfax were closed as authorities investigated the crash and cleared the wreckage
