Tour Bus, Tractor Trailer among Vehicles in Multiple-Car Collision

Ten people were injured on Interstate 85 just before 5 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010 near Charlotte in Gaston County, North Carolina. A pile-up that included a tractor trailer and a tour bus sent several people to area hospitals with life-threatening and serious injuries.

Two of the victims are Kelly and Mike Bowling, Christian singers who were on their way to a performance in Barboursville, Virginia. Also with them on the tour bus was singer Terah Crabb, who sustained a broken arm during the accident.

Mike Bowling was airlifted to a local hospital. Paramedics from Gaston and Mecklenburg counties in North Carolina aided those who were injured at the scene while two others were airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.

Authorities have not made any statement regarding what caused the wreck, but I am confident this multiple-car collision could have been avoided if the vehicles involved had not been following too close.
