Early May 30, two men drove the bus away after the driver left it idling at a fast-food restaurant in the 7200 block of 52nd Street S.E. while he took a bathroom break.
Surveillance cameras on the bus recorded two men in the act, one laughing as he recklessly drove the bus, hitting at least two parked cars during a half-hour joyride.
The bus was later found abandoned on Penworth Close S.E.
Jeffrey Keizer, 20, was arrested at a home on Monday not far from where the bus was discovered, police said. He is charged with theft over $5,000. The transit bus is worth about $300,000.
A second man, Robert Allen Smith, 29, was arrested at a Calgary home Tuesday night.
Smith has been charged with theft over $5,000, dangerous driving, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating a motor vehicle while unauthorized, operating a transit vehicle while unauthorized and two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
