JOHANNESBURG — The manager of Johannesburg's new rapid bus service says a drivers' strike after a World Cup match has affected hundreds of fans.
Jackie Huntley is the chief executive of the management company, and says up to 1,000 fans who should have been bused from Soccer City stadium after Monday's Netherlands-Denmark game were instead put on trains.
Huntley says drivers were protesting because they believe their shifts were changed without proper notice — a charge she rejects.
Sometimes violent protests slowed implementation of the bus system last year. Private business owners who operate commuter fleets complain it will ruin their business.
Stadium security workers in Cape Town and Durban also went on strike Monday.
