3 INJURED ON TOUR BUS

Two people were flown by helicopter and a third was rushed by ambulance to hospitals following an early-morning collision that happened when a car crossed double yellow lines and rammed a tour bus.

The female driver of the car and her male passenger were flown to a Denver hospital in separate helicopters in critical condition following the 1:30 a.m. crash, said Black Hawk police Chief Stephen Cole.

There were only three people including the driver in the tour bus that shuttles casino employees and gamblers to and from the gambling town, Cole said.

One passenger in the bus was driven by ambulance with injuries not considered life-threatening, he said.

The woman who was driving the car was returning to Denver on Colorado 119 when she passed a car by crossing double yellow lines and crashed head-on into the tour bus, Cole said.

The car was damaged so badly that firefighters had to cut the roof of the vehicle off before removing the man and woman from the car, he said.

Police are investigating whether there were other factors that contributed to the crash, including drinking and speeding, Cole said.
