Eleven Children Sent to Area Hospitals Following School Bus Accident

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Children were riding on a school bus Tuesday morning when the bus crashed into a light pole and eleven children were injured. The bus was driving at the Golden Acorn Casino on the Campo reservation at the time, according to authorities. Ten of the children were taken to hospitals with complaints of minor injuries. According to reports, another of the children had moderate injuries.

The students, who are fifth graders from Sunrise Elementary School in Yuma, Arizona, were transported by ambulance to Alvarado and Grossmont hospitals. The students were on their way to a field trip at Balboa Park at the time of the accident. They stopped at the casino to walk and stretch their legs said casino spokesman David Baggerly. The accident was report to the California Highway Patrol around 8:15 a.m. in the main parking lot of the casino.
