Two people were killed in separate Blueline bus accidents in Delhi on Thursday. In the first incident, one person was killed and his brother was injured when a speeding Blueline bus hit them from behind on Panchkuian Road in Central Delhi around 8:15 am.
This year, 35 people have been killed by Blueline buses.
Police said Kamal Mathur (30) and his brother Vimal (27), cloth traders from Uttam Nagar, were on a scooter when the bus, plying between Saket and Super Bazaar hit them.
“The brothers were going on their scooter to Gandhi Nagar to buy cloth. Near Outer Circle at Connaught Place on Panchkuian Road, the bus hit them from behind,” said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
“The scooter came under the bus and the victims were dragged for a few metres.” Police said the driver fled from the spot.
The bystanders called the police who took the two to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Kamal was declared brought dead. Vimal was discharged later.
The second mishap happened at Punjabi Bagh in West Delhi.
A Blueline bus plying between Avantika and Safdarjung hit Manoj Kumar (30) near Britannia flyover from behind around at 6:30 pm.
Kumar was on his scooter when the accident happened. The hospital declared Kumar brought dead. Locals caught the driver of the bus, Devender Kumar, handed him over to the police.
Police impounded the vehicles in both accidents and registered cases.
