China truck-bus collision kills 32

SHENYANG, China, May 23 (UPI) -- A truck heading the wrong way on an expressway collided with a bus in northeast China, killing 29 bus passengers and three people in the truck, officials said.

The crash happened about 3 a.m. Sunday in Fuxin City in the Liaoning Province after the truck turned the wrong way coming out of a service area onto a section of four-lane expressway, authorities told Xinhua news service.

Maintenance work was being done where the accident happened, local transportation authorities said.

After colliding, both vehicles began burning.

The coach, with a Tianjin Municipality registration, had 53 people on board and was heading from Tianjin to Harbin, capital of the northeastern Heilongjiang Province, Xinhua said.
