Delhi to install GPS in Blueline buses
India Blooms News Service New Delhi, April 30 (IBNS) To bring the errant Blueline buses in line the Sheila Dikshit government has decided to install global positioning system ( GPS) in Blueline buses to monitor the private- run bus fleet.
The decision comes after commuters often complains that Delhi’s Blueline buses never meet time schedules, they stop everywhere except the bus stop and deviate from their route.
Transport officials said they have already prepared a install Capital’s 2,600 Blueline buses with GPS and the installation process would begin soon.
“We must provide Delhiites a desirable and a reliable public transport system if we want them to avail such an option. The GPS would achieve just that,” a transport official said.
GPS devices are now being installed in the state- run Delhi Transport Corporation ( DTC) buses and transport officials hoped to install the GPS devices in 500 buses every month from May onwards.
“Blueline bus operators have already been asked to deposit Rs 12,000 as security deposit for the device and pay another Rs 500 as monthly rent for the system,” the official added.
The official said that once the system is installed, a centralised control room would monitor the movement of buses on the city routes.
“Commuters waiting at bus stops will be informed about the time schedules and the routes. Each bus will also have a digital route map and a digital board which will inform the passengers about the bus stops,” the official said.
