A school bus leaving the Kirksville campus was hit by another vehicle Thursday afternoon as it made its rounds.
There were no injuries reported by the eight children on board during the minor accident, said Kirksville Transportation Director Jeff Mikel.
"You get a pretty sick feeling in your stomach when you're first contacted about any accidents," he said. "The driver knew, first thing to say was, 'We had an accident, but everyone's okay.'"
The school bus, operated by Weber Bus Inc., was traveling west shortly after 3 p.m. on La Harpe street when a Cadillac driven by Kirksville resident Gaylene Jacobs, 73, entered the intersection traveling south on Halliburton street.
Jacobs did come to a stop, but continued pulling forward, hitting the bus at less then 10 mph on the passenger side, according to police.
No citations were issued at the scene, however, police said Jacobs was the driver at fault.
"The [bus] driver, while waiting on the police, was able to contact the majority of the parents," Mikel said. "We called the office and obviously got the information out. As wrecks go, as really scary as they can be, this was pretty minimal."
