The AC Transit Board has scheduled a May 26 public hearing and vote on cutting bus service for the second time this year.
AC invites the public to comment at two sessions 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the AC Transit administration building, 1600 Franklin St., Oakland. After the evening hearing, the board will consider voting on three alternatives to cut bus service 8 percent in the district's service area from Fremont to Richmond.
The options are to cut service across the board, on weekends, or after 10 p.m.
A report on the service cuts can by viewed on the Web by going to www.actransit.org and clicking on "comments invited on service reductions."
AC Transit projects a budget shortfall of $56 million by July, 2011, unless cost-cutting measures are taken.
