Twenty-four people have been killed and scores injured after a bus overturned on a busy road in South Africa.
The bus was travelling along a highway to Cape Town with 77 people on board when the driver reportedly lost control.
'The driver lost control of the bus, it then went through a barrier, overturned and then landed in the opposite direction it was travelling,' said provincial traffic spokesperson Xenophone Wentzel.
Part of that stretch of road is referred to as the 'road of death' due to its high fatality rate.
One survivor says the driver had been trying to overtake a truck at high speed when the accident occurred.
A number of small children are believed to be among the dead.
