Shillong, May 13 – The Border Security Force (BSF) troopers Thursday seized explosives from a bus near the Bangladesh border in southern tip of Meghalaya, an official said.
‘We found four packets of PEK (plastic explosives) and nine electric detonators from a passenger on the bus at tri-junction in Ichamati area,’ a BSF official said.
No one has been arrested.
Ichamati is 2.5 km from the international border with Bangladesh and 80 km from state capital Shillong.
The Indian border guards have stepped up vigil and intensified operations on the international border to check trans-border crimes.
Meghalaya shares a 443-km border with Bangladesh, part of which is porous, hilly and unfenced and prone to frequent infiltration.
