PORTLAND -- A TriMet LIFT bus hit a motorcyle from behind late Wednesday night on I-84.
TriMet spokeswoman Bekki Witt said eastbound traffic was merging for roadwork and the bus and motorcycle collided.
A friend of the motorcyclist told KGW that the bus hit the motorcycle, dragging bike and rider under it for about 50 feet. The cyclist suffered a broken back and other injuries.
The motorcyclist was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital.
Witt said TriMet is checking to see if there is a mechanical problem with the bus, which handled poorly before the wreck. She said the driver was not impaired in any way.
A LIFT bus is smaller than a regular bus and serves the disabled on a reservation basis.
